2019 Lecture Series

 
Friends of the Chicago Portage announces the resumption of their popular winter/spring lecture series, this year titled: “Make No Little Plans!” Please join “Friends” tour guide and local history researcher John Langer for the 1st presentation in the series this Saturday February 23rd. John will discuss “Planning a Nation, a State, and a Town!”
 
All presentations will be at a new site; The Lyons Illinois Public Library, 4209 Joliet Road Lyons Illinois 60534, (Tel: 708-447-3577). All lectures are on the last Saturday of each month. Each presentation will be free and open to the public. They will begin at 1:00 P.M. and conclude before 3:00 P.M. There will be ample street parking as well as access to Library parking.
 
Other lecture in this series will explore how Chicago’s waterways were planned and developed and used. The last lecture on Saturday, July 27th, will focus previous Master Plan’s for the Chicago Portage National Historic Site and the Forest Preserve District’s new plan for developing Portage Woods.
